Fisher & Paykel Dishwashers F7 Error: Water inlet fault
Fisher & Paykel dishwasher error code F7 is a mid-severity fault meaning Water inlet fault — tap or fill valve problem. The DishDrawer cannot complete a wash cycle without an adequate water supply. Once the water supply issue is resolved (tap open, hose clear, filter screen clean), power-cycle the drawer and start a new cycle.

Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
No. The DishDrawer cannot complete a wash cycle without an adequate water supply. Running cycles with a restricted inlet will cause the controller to fault out repeatedly and may cause the heating element to dry-fire if the tub water level is below the element.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. Once the water supply issue is resolved (tap open, hose clear, filter screen clean), power-cycle the drawer and start a new cycle. F7 should not return if adequate water flow has been restored.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: F7 returns after verifying the tap is fully open and the hose is clear, Water fills very slowly even with the filter screen cleaned.
Symptoms You May Notice
F7 displayed at the start of a cycle
The code appears early in the cycle when the drawer is attempting to fill with water, indicating insufficient water has entered within the expected time.
Drawer fills very slowly or not at all
You can hear the inlet valve clicking on but the water level in the tub rises very slowly or remains empty.
Cycle starts, pauses, then faults
The controller opens the inlet valve, waits for the pressure switch to confirm the tub is full, and faults when that confirmation does not arrive in time.
Possible Causes
Water supply tap turned off or restricted
The tap supplying the DishDrawer under the sink is closed, partially closed, or the supply hose is kinked.
DIY PossibleBlocked inlet valve filter screen
The small mesh filter screen at the inlet valve inlet port is clogged with sediment, restricting water flow to a trickle.
DIY PossibleFaulty inlet solenoid valve
The electromagnetic solenoid inside the fill valve has failed and does not open when energised by the control board.
Requires ProfessionalLow household water pressure
The water supply pressure is below the minimum required for the inlet valve to open fully (typically 20 PSI / 140 kPa minimum).
DIY PossibleSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Check the water supply tap
Locate the isolation valve on the water supply hose under the sink and confirm it is fully open (handle parallel to the pipe).
This is the single most common cause of F7 — the tap was accidentally knocked partially closed during cabinet cleaning.
-
2
Check the inlet hose for kinks
Pull the DishDrawer slightly forward (after turning off the water) and inspect the inlet hose behind it for any sharp bends or kinks that would restrict flow.
A hose kinked against the back wall of the cabinet will reduce flow enough to trigger F7.
-
3
Clean the inlet valve filter screen
Turn off the water supply, disconnect the inlet hose at the valve, and use needle-nose pliers to extract the small mesh filter screen from the valve inlet port. Rinse it under the tap to remove sediment, then refit.
A partially blocked filter screen is the most common cause of slow fill and F7 on machines more than 3 years old.

4
Test household water pressure
Disconnect the inlet hose from the valve and hold it over a bucket. Open the supply tap fully for 5 seconds. If the flow is very low, the household pressure may be below the required minimum.
Run other taps in the kitchen simultaneously to check if pressure drops significantly — this may indicate a broader supply issue.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- Inlet solenoid valve fails to open when energised — valve replacement required
- Pressure switch or water level sensor faulty — confirms fill even when tub is empty
