Fisher & Paykel Gas Range Burner Igniter Recall (2018)

Fisher & Paykel Gas Range Burner Igniter — Recalls safety notice from the Fisher & Paykel repair guide.

Hazard

The spark igniter module on certain Fisher & Paykel freestanding gas ranges can continue to spark after the burner has been lit, creating a risk of gas accumulation if the burner flame is accidentally extinguished. Uncontrolled gas release poses a fire and explosion hazard.

Affected Models

RGV2366 and OR90 series freestanding gas ranges manufactured between June 2015 and March 2018. The model label is located on the frame behind the storage drawer.

Units Affected

Approximately 5,500 units distributed in the United States and Canada.

What to Do

  1. If the igniter clicks continuously after lighting, turn off all burners and ventilate the kitchen immediately.
  2. Do not attempt to disassemble the igniter module yourself.
  3. Contact Fisher & Paykel for a free igniter module inspection and replacement.
  4. If you smell gas at any time, leave the home and call your gas utility provider before re-entering.
