Fisher & Paykel Dryer Overheating Recall (2020)

Fisher & Paykel Dryer Overheating Recall (2020) — Recalls safety notice from the Fisher & Paykel repair guide.

Hazard

The thermal cut-off fuse in certain Fisher & Paykel vented dryers may fail to trip at the correct temperature, allowing the drum to overheat and potentially ignite lint accumulation inside the duct or drum housing. This poses a fire hazard.

Affected Models

DE7027P2 and DG7027G2 series vented dryers (electric and gas) manufactured between February 2017 and November 2019. Check the serial label on the inner door frame.

Units Affected

Approximately 7,100 units sold in the United States through appliance retailers.

What to Do

  1. Clean the lint filter before every load and inspect the vent duct for blockages.
  2. Discontinue use of long or high-heat drying cycles until the unit has been inspected.
  3. Contact Fisher & Paykel for a free thermal fuse replacement by a certified technician.
  4. Never leave the dryer running when leaving home or going to sleep.
