Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer Dishwasher Fire Hazard — Recalls safety notice from the Fisher & Paykel repair guide.
Hazard
Certain Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer dishwashers contain a wiring harness that can short-circuit near the heating element, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. Overheating of the harness insulation can ignite nearby components inside the drawer cavity.
Affected Models
DD603, DD605, and DD24S series DishDrawer units manufactured between January 2004 and December 2008. Units bear a model label inside the upper rim of the drawer cavity.
Units Affected
Approximately 170,000 units sold in the United States through appliance retailers and home-improvement stores.
What to Do
- Stop using the dishwasher immediately if you notice burning smells, discoloration near the drawer cavity, or tripped circuit breakers.
- Contact Fisher & Paykel to schedule a free in-home repair by a certified technician.
- Do not attempt to repair the wiring harness yourself.
- Register your unit at fisherandpaykel.com or call the recall hotline to confirm eligibility.
